Quick note: I've started something new on my blog. It's called Thematic Photographic, and every Wednesday evening, I upload a new photo and a theme for that week. Hopefully, you'll post your own similarly-themed photo and paste the link into a comment here. That way, we all share, learn and enjoy life through our respective lenses.
About this photo: Taken on a restaurant table in our hometown of Montreal. My wife and I managed to get a rare couple of hours of alone time thanks to in-laws who saw that we needed it. The light was super dim, so out came the spidery-looking tripod and remote control for some long exposure fun. Our server, who ignored us for most of the time we were there, was none the wiser.
Your turn: This image is from last week's theme, wood. Click here to dive in. Next theme goes up this evening.
One more thing: Caption This can be found here.
AND THE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER BEGINS!

Alone time is so vital in a relationship where there are children. After I learned that they hadn't been on a date since sometime during her pregnancy, one of the things I did for Erica when I was nannying was suggest she and Kurt go out some night. They had such a great time reconnecting that for Mother's Day, Kurt asked me if I would mind if they went out again while I took care of Sophia. Of course I didn't mind. So they have had two dates in the nine months since Sophia was born. Wow.
I'm liking your picture... but I always have to make sense of what I'm seeing. Is it a pepper mill/shaker? The title must be relevant.
Anyway, happy WW!

Salt shaker? That's a cool shot. I love indoor long-exposure shots. The colors seem so much more vibrant than with a flash. And I'm sure the restaurant wouldn't have been too happy with a flash going off every few minutes.
Great shot. I'll have to keep an eye out for the themes. Maybe I'll be able to participate.
Cool shot. I like the closeness and the light and shadow. Glad you and your wife had a night out.
It makes for a lovely warm picture.
I'm guess a pepper mill or salt shaker. Great shot for capturing the shapes and rich colors.
interesting angle!
happy WW!
Carry around a minipod and not be shy about using it...my hero :-) Very nice get...
Amazing the ways we find to entertain ourselves when the kids aren't around. Glad you were able to enjoy the meal AND finnd some photo ops, as well!!!!
Happy WW!
This is great... love your idea for your blog theme. Very clever and sounds like fun!
I love pictures of salt/pepper shakers in general (recently posted one on my blog, as a matter of fact).
Even though we're at the BEACH this week, I managed to find quite a bit of wood in some way, shape or form. It hit me I should link it to your TP this week...and it gave me an excuse to post a few other shots I hadn't yet.
Ready for this week's theme, even though I'm using my substitute baby camera :).
Cool shot! Is it a pepper grinder?
Alone time is so very important. We try to get out at least once a month, just the two of us. We have dinner, drinks, maybe a movie, but generally we just sit and talk.
Happy WW, Carmi!
The wood makes me think it was a very nice romantic dinner. Just the picture reminds me of candlelit dinners and fine dining and a glass of wine. I'd say there's wood in my WW picture but the stick is so little you'd be hard pressed to tell. LOL
How did you manage to shoot such a long exposure and keep the color that true? I normally get a significant red-shift in conditions like that. (Being relatively new to digital, I sometimes forget about custom white balance.) Do you carry around a gray card in addition to your minipod??
Love the shot in any case!
Oops... forgot the link
My virgin WW Entry; Be Gentle!

Great shot. I love the texture and lighting. I'll check out your theme too.
Very nice shot of the texture! Nice you two got out for a bite.
The wood is beautiful, Carmi.
Looking forward to the next theme!
I love that you carry a tripod and remote with you even when you go out to dinner with your wife! That´s great.
Good that you had an evening out, those are all too rare after kids!
Interesting … makes me want to start to carry my camera with me again. Somehow I lost the habit a while back. I’ve shared at Small Reflections this morning.
Hugs and blessings,
