Parks and recreation and you

Whenever anyone questions the wisdom of governments spending limited funds on public infrastructure like parks, I want to start sharing pictures of these places with them.

Because life without parks would, frankly, suck.

In fact, if I could offer up any useful guidance to our elected officials insofar as parks are concerned, it would be this: build more of them. Make them bigger, more elaborate, more inspiring. Craft spaces that make living in a place a joy instead of mere survival. Make strangers smile.

Some of my happiest and earliest memories originated in a park somewhere, and I know I’m not alone.

This one is London’s Victoria Park, but it could just as easily be any park. If it brings you joy, I hope you find some way to commit your own park-ish scenes to memory.
