Pedalling through the late autumn air

Ride. Always.

Early on a chilly Sunday morning, I take the bike out of the garage and quietly set out on empty roads.

The calendar says November, the cold-soaked ache in my fingers a sobering reminder that autumn is getting ready for winter’s arrival.

Still, it feels deeply gratifying to be out on two wheels, to breathe the crisp air, and feel the crunch of the leaves under the tires. Whatever misgivings I may have had back at the house have long since been dismissed as I drink in the subtle joys of this time of year.

Soon enough I come to a bridge and decide I want to remember why cycling remains such a passion for me no matter the weather. It is, in the end, both a choice and a privilege to ride, and photos like this serve as reminders of why I keep heading out.

The snows will come soon enough, but for now there are still places to go, and days like this to hold onto.
