A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Wordless Wednesday - Look up
Let there be light...
London, ON, April 2008 [Click to enlarge]
Part of a continuing, informal series on the beauty that can be found in otherwise dreary places, like parking lots and downtown alleyways. I found this outside our local grocery store.
Your turn: Finding loveliness where at first blush there is none. Please discuss.
Wait, don't go! Have you entered this week's caption contest? No? Click here and see why CNN is calling this the best bloggy thing since sliced bread.

Beautiful photo, Carmi. You certainly found beauty in an otherwise overlooked place. Looks like the weather was great that day, too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordless Wednesday :)
I love this kind of photography -- finding beauty by looking at ordinary things in extraordinary ways. It's very "cool" picture: geometrical and flat. Great!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
Extraordinary. As always. I've been looking for beauty in places I consider to be beautiful as well -- that's the theme of my most recent post, as a matter of fact.
ReplyDeleteThe sky -- that deep blue sky, contributes much to the beauty of this shot. Great find.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot! The bright blue sky provides a wonderful contrast. Love the lines and the angle. Very nice. :D
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one. I like it when someone sees the beautiful in everyday objects.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
great shot
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting mine
What a nice surprise; so many of us forget to look up!
ReplyDelete"Finding loveliness where at first blush there is none" is why I take pictures all day long. The every day moments become treasures.
My WW is up if you'd like to stop by.
It's so wonderful to look for - and find - the beauty in unexpected places that we never even notice most days. What a lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteOr.....maybe it's a four-eyed robot in a sci-fi flick (:
ReplyDeletewell looking is one of my favorite things to do i love to post about it too
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot. Blue and silver are such good companions and the hard metal is a great contrast with the softness of the sky. So I think I'm an art critic....lol.
ReplyDelete~~~Blessings~~~
what a special street light!!
ReplyDeletegreat capture!!
happy WW!
My eyes just keep following those rectangular shapes around and around. Once again, you've taken something most people never notice and made us truly see it.
ReplyDeleteMy WW pics this week were actually taken *inside* a grocery store near my house. (Ok, so were the ones I posted a couple weeks ago, but no pinatas this time.)
Hey Camri,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention - glad you liked my gator caption!
I love this - reminds me of the old "War of the Worlds".
I gotta look up more :)
Happy WW.
You're right, I do feel small. And my neck hurts a little...But it's a great shot concept!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, I found a whimsical loveliness with my graffiti pic this week(it will load after midnight PST).
Cheers :)
The color of the sky is what caught me...but then again, I think in crayon colors and kidspeak.
ReplyDeleteGreat WW!
Happy WW! It is remarkable how you've found beauty in the most basic and overlooked items. Well done...
ReplyDeleteI honor the legacy of Ted Kennedy on my WW meme this week.
peace, Villager
nice nice shot! its really wonderful to look at good things, no matter how ordinary it is. :)happy ww!
ReplyDeleteCarmi, what's truly lovely is the color of the sky in your photo.
ReplyDeleteBobbie
It's a beautiful photo; the sky is so blue. Happy WW!

Beautifully composed as ever. This shot really makes an everyday object seem special and this appears to be your one of your gifts :)
ReplyDeleteI've been sucked in to WW too! Have a good day!
Ooo cool shot!
ReplyDeleteGot to love that blue!
Very cool!
ReplyDeleteNice! It is amazing how we can find impressive photos in the most unusual places. Great job!
ReplyDeleteLook up yes....but if there is a bird above, make sure your mouth is closed!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy W W Carmi.
This shot just captivates me! Love it, Carmi!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right we often overlook thing around us. This is an example,a lot would have not notice this beauty if you haven't frame it this way.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW.
Hey Carmi! Not everyone can find the beauty in everyday objects. Your composition shows us what we normally would not see here. I agree with Susiej about the contrast with the sky!
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll get a chance to stop by and check out my WW contribution for today!
Just Some Thoughts
Nicely done.
ReplyDeletevery nice perspective shot.. :)
ReplyDeletehope you can also check out our WW posts here and here
Love the contrast of white against blue.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a wonderful ‘eye’ for finding and capturing beauty everywhere. This is a lovely image! I’m just learning to look in new ways through the lens … and to play with what’s captured.
ReplyDeleteToday I've shared things I've learned in the 3rd session of my beginning Photoshop Elements class ... at SacredRuminations and Small Reflections ... so I hope you'll drop by to see.
Hugs and blessings,
Your image reminds me of similar photography a friend shared on his blog. (I sent you the link via email.) It also reminds me a field of tall sunflowers reaching high into a blue sky like the one in your picture. It reminds me to keep stretching and growing as a person. Of course, maybe it's just because I've been doing Pilates lately.
ReplyDeleteI always try to look for the fantastic stuff we pass by every day, but now I think I need to look for the beauty in the people I allow to drive me crazy each day.
I love the POV, and that contrast of the metal against the sky.
ReplyDeleteOne of my WW shots today finds beauty next to the railroad tracks.
ReplyDeleteI always love your photos, Carmi!
The lights make me think of blister packs! Hi Carmi! Long time no see! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwareness and symmetry against a natural blue backdrop-striking.
ReplyDeletePlease come for a visit and have a wonderful WW.
Hey buddy!!
ReplyDeleteI got locked out of my blog for four days with my work...I'm back now.
I couldn't stand it. I had my sister (Couldn't You Just Di) check in on you to see if you had any updates on your dad!!
I glad to hear things are begining to look up!
Talk to you later!
Oh, by the way, this photo.....if you use your imagination, it's kind of like a UFO with a beam coming down.....whatever....
Happy WW ! ! ! !
It made me dissy AND my neck hurt hahaha. NICE perspective.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW
That's a good photo! Very interesting, I really like the finding the beauty and normal everday things, even things not noticably beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHey Carmi! I am finally back and blogging! Love this image!
ReplyDeleteI always love to look up to capture unexpected beauties!
