Someone loves her dog

About these photos: This week's Thematic Photographic theme is happy. I'd love to see your happy-themed photos. To participate, please click here. If you've already shared one, why not share another? There's always another happy to share, right?Frasier had a playdate with another miniature schnauzer a couple of weeks back. Roscoe's about the same age - 2 - and wears the same red harness, so if we squinted our eyes just so, it was easy to get the two of them confused.
Much to our relief, the two of them got along very well. Although Frasier's the sweetest dog on the planet - our biased assessment, of course - the breed isn't known as the most, um, calm. He wants to meet everyone he encounters on the street, and he'll bark, loudly, incessantly, until we either pull him out of sight or relent and allow him to approach. Once he has a chance to sniff said stranger out, he's happy. His bark is clearly worse that his bite, as he wouldn't harm a fly. But you can seriously go deaf - and get a great workout in your leash-holding arm - when he sees someone new.
So we were more than slightly concerned that he'd have issues with his newfound mirror-image friend. We needn't have worried. They played, hard, both in the house as well as in the fenced-in running area near our house. We let them run themselves ragged in the vain hope that they'd get a good night's sleep. Silly us: they're schnauzers. They convert the energy of the planet's rotation into the ability to leap wall units in a single bound.
But for the the entire afternoon, they were happy to be together. And all of us were happy to be a part of this informal festival of fur. Sometimes, life is just that simple and just that good.
Your turn: Simple things that make for happy moments. Please discuss.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! I love that story and those pics. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteSimple things make me happy like:
my girls calling me, snuggling with my pets on the couch watching a movie and playing with Cooper;)
Firm believer in the "life is simple"....so much other stuff gets in the way, But for now, we slow down, eat, drink, play, and can be happy.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting that you mention simple things as a source of happiness. My post for friday deals with just that, but you'll have to wait and see. It will be up by 7AM Pacific Time. I know how you are about time! :)
ReplyDeleteHolding hands with the one I love.
ReplyDeleteEating ice cream with my Granddaughters.
Laying in the hammock in our backyard and watching the clouds float by.
Watching the hummingbird drink a bit of nectar from the Manzanita Tree.
I could go on and on...Life is full of simple pleasures for me.
Oh my gosh, those are cute and happy puppies! This is going to be a fun week!
ReplyDeleteVery cool! They look like twins from the same litter. I think it's great you can have play dates for him :)
ReplyDeleteOur 3-yr old Daisy was yapping under her breath but just loud enough to be annoying while we were watching TV in the den the other night. We told her to be quiet a couple of times but she heard people walking down the street and kept yapping. 8-yr old Ginger apparently had had enough and suddenly got up, walked over to Daisy, and smacked her on the nose with her paw. No more yapping after that, lol!
Awesome post/pics. Yes, happiness IS a warm puppy!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I would do if I had to live life without a dog. Very frightening
Those pictures capture the very essence of happy! :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
HAPPY

*wink*
Simple things - for me that would be:
ReplyDeletemy daughter calling me from Arizona just to chit chat...
seeing my mom smile and her face light up when she actually recognizes me when I visit her at the nursing home...
my cat, Killian, jumping down from the window and racing to the front door when he sees me walking up the walkway...
Lovely! My doggie makes me happy as well. So does traveling. I have pics & slide shows of my recent trip to Oregon on my blog!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day
That puppy definitely makes me happy. I love the way he bounces when he walks.
ReplyDeletehugs, kisses, time with those we love
watching silly movies "like don't mess with the Zohan" together as a family and enjoying big belly laughs!
Smooching with the kids and you! :D
I have my happy pics up on my blog!
ReplyDeleteI'll share a simple thing that made me happy for a moment today: While on the way home and riding the bus, I saw a little baby (maybe 9 months old) smiling at the two passengers next to him/her. Other passengers across the aisle were smiling at the sight of this baby staring and smiling these people. It made me feel happy and blessed and warm and fuzzy.
ReplyDelete"Happiness is a warm puppy"
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely!
Looks like they're actually smiling in that 2nd photo!
