Thematic Photographic 76 - Orange

When the game ends
London, ON, June 2009

About this photo: This entry launches our new Thematic Photographic theme, orange. To be a part of the fun, simply post an orange-themed pic on your site, then leave a comment here so everyone can find it. Repeat as often as you wish. I'm not sure why I stuck around the playground at our kids' school after the bell rang and everyone headed inside. I had a camera and a few extra minutes before I needed to get on my way. I guess some days we all need a little quiet time before diving into the day.

The basketball, sitting alone in the middle of the court, seemed lost in the asphalt, suddenly forgotten by the boisterous kids who mere minutes ago were fighting each other to get it through the net. They'd be back at recess, but for now it was just me, a ball, and a whole lot of sunshine-drenched silence. I'm glad I hung back.

Your turn: Got something orange in your archives? If so, I hope you'll share it here. If not, you've got the perfect excuse to head out with your camera and bring home something orange. We're at it all week, so have fun with it!

  1. The basketball sure looks very lonely. I love the perspective. In my photo there are som rusty things outside a store at a harbour. Photographed on an island in the Gothenburg archipelago.

  2. Basketball would be better if it was hockey. But I do like this shot. The scuffed up ball, the low angle... almost like a "Ball's-Eye View".

I wasn't nearly so inventive, but just as orange:

  4. Awesome shot Carmi. As a teenager I was playing Basketball in a great team. We had a very good career indeed. One day boy´s became more interesting than the basketball so......... The End of that story ;-).

  5. Well, last week I intended to post several during the week, but this week I will admit that I'm busy enough that it might not happen, so I have posted a bunch of orange photos in one post. Interestingly, most seem to have more than a little blue in them as well.

  9. I discovered something interesting. My image files do not have anything orange. I need to go shoot more orange images in the future. Thanks for bringing this theme up. I like your basketball shot; it looks so lonely and left behind. Here is my orange post: http://lightandvoices.blogspot.com/2009/11/thematic-photographic-76-orange.html.

Living in a very rural area as I do, with today being the opening day of gun season for deer, you'd think I'd have a picture of one of those hunters in blaze orange, but I don't.

Still time to enter my November contest when you stop by!
