Nature's parallelism

I thought I'd round out this week's parallel-themed adventure* with a shot of how nature views the concept. I tend to use photography as the adult equivalent of a child's security blanket: It brings me comfort to hang out behind the camera, then slowly flip through the results of my work later on.
Moments like this one, where the world as I've captured it in two dimensions is as perfectly balanced as it's ever going to get, are especially Zen-like. You wonder what it took for nature to paint this place just as is it now. And when even that becomes too mind-boggling a process, you settle for a simple, under-your-breath word. "Cool".
The folks at Discovery Channel put it best: The world is just awesome.

South from my window...Daybreak. Fast-moving clouds, wet road from last night's rain. Greys and blues with green just starting to show out of the dark. Looks cool and damp. Quiet before the rush.

ReplyDeleteRight now it is pitch black...cuz its 5 am...normally, my neighbor's window gets the first hit of sun coming up... It invariably shines right on his upstairs bathroom window...It starts out small, then continues to grow and glow over the whole side of his house...If I have the door /window open, that little bit of sun is usually the alarm clock for the birds, cuz like the sun beginning to warm that neighbor's house, the birds start out chirping softly, then it crescendoes where (if I have feed in the feeders) it sounds like bird traffic...a sign that my yard has waken up...

Outside my window right now I see, freshly mowed grass gently covered with dry scattered leaves skipping about in quiet chatter. A fresh round of recent mole hills, and a great white horse from next door eating our grass through the fence while in the distance beyond bright colored cars whisking by. I enjoyed becoming aware of so many parallels this past week! Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteThe bright morning sun, lush green grass that always needs to be mowed and our gigantic silo, all surrounded by fields of golden corn. I <3 Fall. =)

ReplyDeleteThrough my living room window I see the chokecherry tree with a few leaves barely clinging still, a cone on the front sidewalk put there by city workers to mark repairs, my husband leaving for a work meeting, the long shadows of the neighbours tree and house, the junipers alit with morning sun, the neighbouring houses already basking in sunlight. Good morning everyone!
ReplyDeleteI see a stacked wall of old house bricks up against the garage, that has been there so long that it has wild foxgloves, ferns and even cherry trees growing in it.
ReplyDeleteThe title of your post made me smile - a friend of ours used to call our house the Field of Dreams, because we had so many plans for it.. most of which are still to get out of our imaginations into reality.
Out our dock I see a nice rock wall along with some nice trees. Behind all that is a mountain which is about 1000 feet higher then my work. The Bonneville trail runs across and behind this mountain. This is a nice comfortable sight to see and am glad it is here every day.
ReplyDeleteAs for your photo, I quite enjoy the scene, with three distinctive layers of texture. Makes me wish I was camping.

ReplyDeletebeautiful photograph, pine tree looks like a little fat intruder against the tall slender silver trunks. You know the way when someone pops their head into a photo by mistake:)

Window on my right (east): my dirt path, then hedged fence. Road, some staff quarters, lots of trees.
ReplyDeleteWindow behind (south): my garden, hedged fence, road, trees on the other side of road, green area behind trees, medical centre at the bend, side street, old man.
The weather is gloomy and cool. I think it'll rain.
