One London Place: #1 to me London, ON September 2019 This photo originally shared on Instagram |
The answer is simple: I know what I like. While multiple pics of the same building may seem repetitive to some, I see it differently.
Just because the subject is the same doesn't mean the experience is, as well. In fact, how I take in this scene changes every time I walk by. Or ride by. Or drive by and decide to park the car because I saw it in a certain way.
I like how it feels to stand on the ground just below it - or in a 5th floor government office a few blocks away, or wherever - and size it up in my mind. I like how the ever changing landscape around it can shift the tone, often within seconds, but only if someone stops to notice it. The very process of looking for the new within the familiar is, in many ways, both comforting and eye-opening.
Maybe it's boring to some, but not to me. And I'll keep coming back here, looking for different ways to tell the story of what, to those who see life differently, might seem to offer up only more of the same.
Thankfully, we know differently.
