And when I say sometimes, I mean more often than I should.
I think we all experience it. Days get busy. Deadlines loom. The clock ticks more loudly than it usually does. We feel a little bit of guilt for taking time out to chow down when we should be working. The work-at-home thing only makes it worse.
Of course, it’s a false saving, because soon enough we’re ravenously raiding the snack cupboard and making lousy food choices in the process. Because productivity isn’t so much a function of quantity of time, but quality.
And sometimes some disconnected, unstructured time to munch a sandwich and play with the puppy are just the ticket for cranking out the good stuff in the afternoon.
I’m slowly learning this. And if I shoot some artsy burger pictures along the way, I’m pretty sure my colleagues know I’m doing it in the name of productivity.
So we’ve got two simple takeaways here:
- Please take the time for a good lunch today.
- If you’re photographically inclined, feel free to shoot and share. We can never get enough food photography.
