History on display Saute Ste. Marie, ON October 2021 This photo originally shared on Instagram |
I can't explain the appeal of buildings like this one, the Hussey Block in Sault Ste. Marie's downtown. Nor can I fully understand how a structure built long before any of us was born can silently attract our attention and prompt us to stop whatever it is that we're doing.
I've stopped counting how many times I've just stood there and stared.
I'm just glad every time I come across one of these places. Because it isn't a given that they'll still be here tomorrow.
Which, I guess, is a bit of a metaphor for the rest of our existence, then.
