I know: it's just a leaf. And a forgotten, shrivelled-up one at that. It's the middle of freaking winter, and no sane person goes into the woods intending to take pictures of...leaves.
But sometimes we just see random stuff along the way, and after we get home and look over the stories we've just told, it's okay to wonder whether this is the universe's way of tapping us on the shoulder.
Maybe it's something. Or maybe it's nothing and I'm simply wasting my and everyone else's time.
But imagine if we never looked out at the water at all. Or asked whether or not the things we see have meaning. Or asked existential questions like this in the first place.
That's not an existence I'm willing to entertain. And if you've read this far, I'm guessing you feel the same way.
