- Find a local pet store.
- Wander over to the aquarium section.
- Say hello to the fish.
- Flash a friendly smile to the overworked staff member who’s restocking the nearby shelves with lizard food. Try to avoid looking creepy.
- Wait till she gets back into her restocking rhythm.
- Carefully and gently press your smartphone to the glass to avoid frightening the fish.
- Trip the shutter a bunch of times in the few seconds you have before someone notices.
- Whisper a thank you to the fish for all their help.
- Slip your smartphone back into your pocket and walk away innocently, as if you were never there.
- Silently congratulate yourself as you leave the store for your decision to engage in a spontaneous act of photographic joy. We could all use more of them.
