Like noticing one of my wife’s car’s tires needs a little air, so out comes the air compressor for a spontaneous driveway inflation session.
Riveting, isn’t it?
Since the compressor is as slow as molasses - first world problem, I know - there’s lots of time to sit beside the wheel and catch up on some reading.
Or, perhaps, photography.
Because tire tread feels like a fun thing to shoot. It is quite literally, the only thing between us and the road, the singular factor that determines whether or not we end up where we want to go.
It’s also one of the most overlooked parts of a car, the thing we ignore until we have no choice.
So on this sunny morning, I remind myself that the ignored and the mundane deserve a little attention every once in a while.
Maybe not so riveting after all, but important all the same.
