Game of (almost-autumnal) tones London, ON September 2023 This photo originally shared on Instagram |
We knew we were early, as while we’d been seeing rare flashes of it here and there, the canopy was nowhere near its seasonal peak.
But as we walked to the trailhead, we reminded ourselves that this wouldn’t be a one-time thing, that we’d see whatever we’d see, and we could always take additional walks as time went on.
As you can see here, the woods clearly weren’t ready. Yet we were just as happy to be there.
Because green is a colour, too.
Because there’s no single version of “right”.
Because beauty takes many forms.
Because the here-and-now has a magic all its own.
Because waiting for something “better” feels like a waste of energy.
Because tomorrow will tell its own story.
It won’t be long before we grab our cameras and head back out for another look. Whatever we see, we see. None of this is about the photos, anyway.
