As background, over the years I have captured many photos of these scavengers of the sky. Probably too many. Actually, definitely too many.
I’ll often spend at least part of the day trying to freeze them in pixels. It’s rather cathartic to chase them around through glass, as in that singular moment nothing else matters.
I’ll end up with countless botched images, blurred, badly composed, ill-lit, or all of the above. And maybe, if I get very lucky, I’ll bring home one image worth sharing.
In a way, it’s somewhat like life itself, where we try lots of different things, fall ingloriously in the sand countless times, and hopefully count one win among them all.
That number would be zero if we never tried at all. So still we try.
