On curved wings

Gully
Delray Beach, FL, December 2010
About this photo: Thematic's curved theme slowly winds down as we prepare for Thursday night's launch of our new theme. It's not too late to get curvy, though. Just click here. And check back tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. Eastern for what comes next.
It's been a while since I shared a bird photo*. Folks who've hung around me for a while know about my semi-addiction to gulls. I don't know if it's the fact that they're literally everywhere, or that they're so graceful in the air, or what. For whatever reason, I keep coming back to them. And they keep bringing me joy every time I spy them through the lens.

Your turn: A topic that brings you repeated joy. Please discuss.

* Earlier gull-themed photos can be found here, here and here. Want more?

  2. What gives me joy is photographing something, a moment like your seagull, that never existed before and won't exactly exist that way ever again. Then sharing it so it can be appreciated by others.

  3. I love how they always look like they are simply floating in the breeze.... and they pop against the blue sky.

  5. You wrote on one of your other gull posts: "It's inspiring to watch such absolute command of one's environment." That's what brings me joy... finding my own place and watching others find their place in the world. I think when you are at absolute peace with yourself and your environment you don't have to be in command or in control, you just are and it's beautiful. I especially like seeing it in my children, when they are at ease and comfortable in a situation. There is probably an aspect of spirituality that I am not touching on here.

With all your gull/bird fascinations I hope you've read Jonathon Livingston Seagull. :0
