AND THE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER BEGINS!

A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

A sponge? The ocean?
I give up.
I'm here from Michele's and I'm saying hello.
The face of the moon.
Well, my latest post is on the moon, so this reminds me of that!
:)
If it's not the moon, then perhaps its a monochromatic close-up of a fleece throw.
???
brown sugar, waiting to be put into gingersnaps.
i dont know and neither does michele
Some sort of foodstuff?
It looks loke a rock to me.
I'm going with dirty snow. Michele sent me.
Ahh, wow. Well, having destroyed many a Nerf Football in my day I'm going to guess -- the inner recesses of a squishy ball.
Looks like snow to me, Carmi. Maybe it's because I've been overcome with it lately. Putting this Texas girl in Ohio for a winter makes everything look like snow!
A chain smoker's bronchial tubes? A forgotten sock I used to clean up spilled mik? A close up of Dr. Phil's moustache?
I was thinking of dryer lint, or freezer frost. Hiya Carmi!

Hi, the 'next blog' thing works wonders. Anyway, I think it's either real snow, or fake snow, the kind you sprinkle around everything at this time of year to give it a 'natural' feel.
Okay, Carmi, time to tell us what it is!
Michele sent me back.
It's either snow, or you somehow took a picture of the stuff growing on the underside my furnace filter...
Sure looks like a close up of snow to me, Carmi.
Michele sent me to witness this photograpic marvel from you, Carmi. By the way, I love that one you took a few months ago of the autumn leaves. It's very pretty. We were at that stage of the season only a few weeks ago. There's still a lot of trees with leaves on here in NC. :-)
A side of a snowbank, partly greyed by road sludge? Disturbed beach sand?
Michele sent me.
Whatever it is, it looks salty. Salt, saltwater, some kind of rock/mineral. I'm sure I'm gonna be surprised by the answer.
Carmi - here via Michele's when I saw you on the boards :-)
um - dunno what your photo is, I'm no good at those 'close-up' shots...
But, as ever, happy to be here, dear :-)

A fleecy blanket?
I'm loving the guesses so far, so I'm going to hold off until a little later today before I divulge the answer and upload my newest blog entry.
If you're tired of guessing, I hope you'll scroll down a bit and peruse some of the older material on the blog. Enjoy!
I think it's SLUSH. That icky, dark stuff that happens to snow that is run over by cars an inundated with salt. Am I right?
Michele sent me....
Snow...up close and personal?
looks like snow! oh no...are you guys burried in snow?
um...judging by your comment on Michele's - is it by any chance - snow??

Michele sent me again :-)
Snow?
I hope you'll ALL accept my heartfelt thanks for taking a stab at my photographic guessing game.
Congrats to the perceptive souls - Plain Jane beat 'em all - who said it was snow. It is a closeup of a snowbank immediately in front of my house. I severely underexposed the shot to give it the transitional-graying tone. I initially thought of giving up on it, but ultimately thought it was a cool perspective on something we may see everyday, but never really observe in a cohesive manner.
I'll be posting my next one momentarily.
tropical rain forest as seen from space?
Well, I said slush and that's simply snow in the past tense, right?
Michele sent me.
