Two years ago today, I started jotting my thoughts down on a little unknown online entity known as Written Inc. (Here's the first entry, And So It Begins.) I wrote a fairly verbose missive, dubbed Once Around the Sun, on my blog's first anniversary, so I'll spare the sap this time out.
But I didn't want to let this milestone pass without at least a casual mention. And a thank you to all of you who have dropped in, read my sometimes-off-the-wall words, and shared your thoughts so generously and honestly. It's been a pretty remarkable journey thus far, and I do hope you'll continue to share it with me in the months and years to come.
So many words left to write and share. Onward...
Your turn: I often wonder what possesses complete strangers to take precious time out of their day to visit my site. So I ask you, why?

Twice around the sun

I visit because your site is always interesting, even when it's family posts or just a photograph of some sand on the beach. I know there will be something provocative to read. I hope this is what you want to hear.
Nice to see you, Twice aroudn the sun.
It has been a long, long while since I met someone...like me. But, I can be violent in words, if only to strike back at brutality, blind hate, and intolerent ignorance. The world is at war with its own lust for war. War possesses us, drive us to throw our freedoms into the dustbin. I often wonder how Ghandi would have handled Osama and Saddam. Your friend from www.johnwariner.com
Carmi, as soon as I read your profile I knew I would like your blog. You always write such thoughtful posts and your comments on other blog are not only thoughtful but kind. We need more of that in this world. Michele says hi.
Happy 2 year anniversary. :-) Milestones are gratifying.
What comes to mind first? Frequent updates, consistent tone and length of entries, gorgeous photos and your unambiguous welcome of people to come and read.
Congrats on your 2nd anniversary!! It is amazing how fast the years start going!!! I sure enjoy coming by!!
Tonight I am here via Michele though... to say hello!!
The photos pull me in. I love your perspective! And it helps that you are a great writer.
I am with Dara on this one, you are very interesting. You have a way with words, and your photography is outstanding. You have a very good eye which is somehow unusual for a male, sorry to say. Its nice to read a man's blog that isn't talking about boobs and who they picked up the night before. That is why I come here, now go give your wife and kids a hug, because you deserve one.
Birds. Sometimes there are birds.
I'm 3 weeks behind you. My 2 year anniversary will be July 22. Does that make us littermates?
happy anniversary! you already know this, but i discovered your blog from playing michele's comment game... i enjoy reading your work but i LOOOOOOOOOVE your pictures! thanks for coming to my blog and commenting on the pix i took! and dara is correct, you leave wonderful comments!
thanks for 'giving' me a whole new perspective in taking photographs!
interesting, varied, graphic spring to mind. And well traversed the last two years.
Like killired, I happened onto your blog via michele (or you to mine - I forget exactly which way it went?) only fairly recently because I've only been around for a little while. I find your blog to be refreshing and thoughtful, and enjoy both the images and your guestions for us in the end. You come across as a very gentle, yet strong, spirit.
Forgot to say congratulations on the two year anniversary - and I am finally adding you as a link on my blog if you don't mind? (I'm always looking for the last comment from you in order to get to your blog again......)
i come because i love the way your thoughts translate onto paper. you have a real talent. i also love your photos. they make me think about the everyday things around me.
You're site always offers an insight into who you are while still giving me something to think about. I like that you put up subjects we dont always agree on and let us comment our differing views. I like that you look at the world differently from me because I can learn from what you see. Congrats on the anniversary
Because you always give an interesting new perspective which also happens, a lot of the time, to be calm and insightful..and like Killired, I LOVE your pictures....
(without reading anyone else's comments)
You take wonderful pictures and write very well, succinct and interesting. You comment on other's blogs, rather than just lurk.
Happy Blog-versary, Carmi! Thanks for all the wonderful reading material.
Sometimes it's Michele (not today, so far...), and often it's just out of curiosity as to what the "Your Turn" of the day is.
I think mostly, though, it's the fact that you're a published journalist, and this is the one space where you can speak your true mind without limitations. I've always found you to be a fantastic writer - even when you write about things I find boring, you tend to word it in a fashion that I enjoy reading it regardless.
Because you are interesting, intelligent, well-spoken; an excellent, caring father and we love your comments to us! Keep up the good work, Carmi, may your banner ever wave.
P.S. I like your photos and your insightful questions, too.
Because I never know what you will be bloging about. Topical news. Techie stuff. Photos.Your family. But it is always heartfelt and interesting.
Look at that! It's my one year today.
Happy undapantsaversary, brother!
I visit because of who you are. That your family means so much to you - and by extension Us your readers.
You take on journeys with you and Po.
You share wisdom, tradition and the simple things we might overlook if you did not bring them to the fore.
Because you eat CAKE !!
Because you care about community and you ask us to become involved, where we might have been to busy to even stop and read.
And because good, wise, men are gifts to those who seek them.
Happy Blog Anniversary. Why do I visit? Well, I always enjoy a well written missive. I really enjoy those I feel I can identify with or that can make me think in new ways. You meet both criteria.
I'm so glad you started! You are a ray of sunshine in blogland. =)
Carmi, visiting your site is like coming home. Always familiar and comfortable. I've been blogging for more than 2 years, but I hate to look back, since I'm not quite the accomplished writer that you are. Congrats on the milestone!
Here via Michele's and just because I always come back here eventually. Happy Monday!
CONGRATES on a year well done.
In answer to your question of WHY? All I can say is... Why not!
Hey, Carmi, you're a great writer, and a wonderful person. What more could a reader ask for. Now go buy yourself a beer and celebrate for goodness sake!
I meant TWO years! Silly me. Have yourself another beer!
I read your blog for all the above reasons...but have you noticed that the vast majority of people commenting are female??
Congratulations! Two Years! Amazing. I will be here as always, my dear Carmi.
Congrats on your 2nd anniversary! I visit because you always have an interesting post and awsome photographs, which have changed my perspective behind the camera. I know now I need a better cam, something I could get myself for my first blog anniversary. We'll see. Happy blog-a-versary and many more!
You left a funny comment on my blog and it made me curious :)
I visit for so many reasons.
Your posts are well written and thought out.
You are a "family" man of the highest quality and I admire that.
You obviously love your wife and I respect that.
Your photos are great.
You are often a journalistic area of calm in a turbulent world. You show reason, that is rare.
Happy two years! I come back because of your eye for photography and your unbelievable ability to commit your thoughts to the written word. This is by far one of the best blogs on the web.
Happy anniversary!! You have such a knack for writing, and your photography is fantastic...it keeps us coming back for more! Congrats and here's to many more years of happy blogging!!
Because you are a great writer and take great photos.
Happy 2 Year anniversary.
