Not a day goes by that our children don't do something that causes us to stop dead in our tracks and realize that right under our noses, things have changed forever.
Today's news: seven-year-old Dahlia started learning cursive, or script. As usual, it got me thinking about how moving beyond block-letter printing represents another step on her long road to adulthood. It also got me thinking how I wanted to mark the date in some small way, so here it is.
The earth didn't move and the skies above our house didn't open up when she carefully wrote her name in pink so that I'd see, for the first time, what her real handwriting looks like. But it was nonetheless important to us. This time thing continues to march in only one direction. I hope I'm doing a good enough job making notes along the way.
And if I'm not, another member of the family can now take over in case my writing hand gets tired.

Awwww she did a beautiful job and already shows a flair unique to her!!!
Very good! I've had to regress back to printing due to my illegible writing skills. Good thing computers came along and I can type (badly and with many mistakes). :-)
Awww...I think she is doing very well!
By the way, Oatmeal with brown sugar and milk is the only way to go!
It is so amazing how important the "little things" are in the life of a child. This is one of them. It brings back memories of lined paper and how we did the same thing as well.
Add this to the story of the Tie to your memoirs.
peace

Wow! Thanks for sharing the *special* things in life. : )
Wow...your daughter already has better handwriting than I've got...! Definitely hang onto that. I look back and there are so many things I wish I'd kept; my solace is that I did keep some really terrific Embarrass-the-Boy photos :)
Ahh, cursive or "joined-up-writing" as we call it in our house!
Wait until she asks for help on long division homework- if you're anything like me you'll be useless!
She is writing beautifully already.
I would frame this and hang it on the wall somewhere prominent. Later when she is much older, this handwriting sample will be among one of your most cherished possessions. Trust me.
Very, very sweet. jk
Wow - I'm impressed! She has a beautiful handwriting already!
Every time they do something new it's a milestone. They come in all shapes and sizes.
She has a beautiful signature!!
