Ear all about it

Sad clown and her beloved donut

As evidenced by the sad look on her face and the rather festive-looking cone of shame surrounding her head, our little guppy had a rough weekend. Which, of course, means WE had a rough weekend, too. And Monday. And...

Why all the fuss? She suffered an accidental cut to her ear, which if you've ever hung around a Schnauzer before, is one of the least desirable places to have any kind of boo-boo.

Stitches loom in her very near future, followed by some more time in the cone of shame. Needless to say, she's not the happiest of campers, and we're hovering extra closely.

Today I worked from the living room floor to ensure she wasn't alone, and she starred in a number of work-related videoconferences. Not like I need a reason to appreciate the incredible folks I work with, but it's days like this that I especially appreciate their kindness for accepting the presence of a whining dog over my shoulder.

Indeed, beyond the unplanned Microsoft Teams change-of-venue, we are remarkably blessed that it wasn't worse. And that she'll fully recover after a few miserable days.

These days, we'll take small blessings wherever we can find them. And if it means extra hugs, just because, then that's just the way it'll have to be.

If you've got any suggestions for making her smile, I'm all ears. Thanks in advance.
