Lattice

My office is situated on the very edge of a stately neighborhood of old houses. Some have been restored to their former, glorious beauty. Others, on the other hand, wear their faded beauty in plain view of all passers-by who are just a bit curious.

When I'm feeling the need for some architectural inspiration, I like to take a stroll through the nearby streets to drink in what was, what is, and what might be.

Something tells me the diamonds in the rough are infinitely more fun to photograph.

this is a good reason why our lattice is plastic. LOL We just get mold in the wet months and then blast with our power washer!

That fence has a lot of great character! Here from Michele's for this visit! :-)

I love the lattice and peeling paint, Carmi. It looks sort of like I feel lately: shabby chic!

we used to live in the historic distric on second floor of an old victorian. It was lot's of fun to see and learn about the little details of the old houses.

I live in one of those big old semi restored Victorians, that lattice looks like our verandah posts paintwise :)

I'm captivated by the pretty neon lights. That's typical of me though.

'diamonds in the rough' made me laugh. I love this photo, and the neon one above, and the juxtaposition of the two.

Lattice within lattice. I love this shot!

I agree. I'd much rather see photos of older buildings or parts of them. Wow, you are a multi-talented guy!

Those kind of "texture" shots make for great black & whites. Good to see you expanding your creative horizons beyond the mighty pen. Michele say ello.

cheers

How lucky you are to work amongst such gems! Older homes have so much character.

I love the close-up of the worn lattice. Beauty can most definitely be found in things that aren't quite perfect -- it's what makes them cool.
