AND THE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER BEGINS!

A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

Sorry, I'm one of those early to bed, early to rise people. I do have to have my coffee in the morning. A couple of glasses of wine polishes me off sometimes at night. Sometimes is backfires and I get inspired to write, then I get to bed late. But that is very rare.
yep, have to have a cuppa java or two to get me going in the mornings. then a cold shower to get me ready to go to work. :)
lol Can't help you on the sleep thing, since I can never seem to get enough either!
Agreed that things always taste better when prepared by someone else! Especially if that someone loves you!

No hints from me. I'm a night owl. Even when I stupidly decided to go to nursing school, I couldn't manage to be asleep in bed before 1am. On clinical days I had to be up at 5am. I learned the art of napping. If the situation permits, I can conk out almost instantly. I'd get home from nursing school at 330pm, sleep until 430pm, go to work from 5-11 or 5-1 and get my sleep in between. You know how I managed to work full-time and go to nursing school full-time?
COFFEE. Lots of coffee.
I'm a late nighter too! did ya remember to have your iPod charged? did you listen to upbeat music to wake you up??????
no hints from me. I can't remember the last time I actually got enough sleep....
Yup.
Try creating a routine; something that you can do every night as you lay in bed. It's especially helpful if you're coming off of a productive writing stint and can't turn the brain off. As someone who routinely writes until 2-3 AM, this has proved fiercely effective for me. For the last year, I've told myself the same story every night as I wait to tumble into slumber. It allows for my head to put to bed the evening's work and focus on something with which I really don't need to concern myself. Now that has become routine, I usually fall off after 5-10 minutes.
Of course, it could also be the 20 ccs of heroin I routinely inject between my toes before nodding off...but I'm banking that it's the story.
Everything taste better when the WIFE makes it!
:o
I love the wine idea. But no matter how hard I try, I never can get to bed early.
Switch to decaf is one! Have a beer before bed is my credo. Makes me doze off easily.
I just can't help you. I think coffee is manna from heaven. I read in bed, but be careful what you choose to read!
hints for sleeping? If you have trouble getting to sleep i'd reccommend Valerian. It's a herbal tablet that should be available from your chemist.
If your having a problem making time to sleep then that's a whole other issue and I reccommend rescheduling your diary. :o)
I need more sleep, too. Maybe I shouldn't stay up so late playing online. . .
I have no hints. I never drank coffee before I had kids. First kid - first cup.
I ought to be in bed, and yet here I am reading blogs at 10:30pm. Go figure. ;)
This is definitely a morning necessity for me. Can't live without coffee. I admit it.
I've noticed that I don't sleep as well if I've been on the computer before bedtime. (Like right now - oops.) I think the bright lights and info overload tend to overstimulate. Same for TV, but I'm not willing to give up either.
Hope you can find time for a snooze now and then. As I age, I'm starting to rediscover the joy of catnaps.
Have a great evening!
I'm in bed by 10! Get up at 4:30 to go run, then get ready for school and finally stop by my fave cafe for a cup of joe - double non-fat latte.
My husband likes his tea and coffee better when I make it too. In fact, I'm making him some tea in a few minutes! :)
As for sleeping at night, tea is good - "Nighty Night" tea by Traditional Medicinals works pretty well and can be found at most whole foods stores. You can also try liquid Valerian extract, though you should make sure it doesnt interfere with any medications first. :)

Musn't we all learn that. There just aren't enough hours in the day sometimes. I don't have any hints to battle that problem as I am guilty of working too much too. However if you ever have trouble falling asleep a nice warm bath does the trick for me.
I'm not a coffee person, but that cup is looking pretty good :) Your photos are really great!
