Quick note to let you know that I've transitioned off of the old Blogger and onto the new. It seems to have gone well, save for the fact that the links to some - OK, make that many - commenters' sites have been stripped out, and it now looks like I've had lots of anonymous commenters.
There's a fly in every ointment, I suppose.
I had intended to stay on the old platform until completely transitioning off of Blogger, but I won't have time to do the full-on migration anytime soon, and Google was making it a royal pain to keep maintaining the site under the old regime. So I caved.
I'll keep my eye out for other little foibles along the way. In the meantime, I'm glad I'm still (virtually) here.
AND THE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER BEGINS!

If you ever want to transition to your own domain, I've become really good with both wordpress and movable type.
I had some similar issues when I migrated, but it has worked out pretty well over time - and not an exceptionally long time either.
I think the Google engineers could have done a better job at making the transition more seamless -- but I'm hardly an expert.
Michele sent me... this time,
Mike
My move to the new Blogger platform was relatively easy; I think it heps that all the photos I use are stored at my own domain and I don't use one of their templates. I hope it all winds up being worth it...I've been tempted to move everything to my own domain, and probabyl would if I wasn't such a techno-weenie.
At least my Nom de Plume is still there... Avitar lost in space!
I've decided no Beta until I learn to write the language. I know HTML, so choose to keep it as long as they allow me, so I can change it as I deem necessary (n use specs n hovernotes I want...)
My daughter, Milkbrain, figured out how to get the old saved template into her new beta-blogger blog, so it looks the same-
http://milkbrain.blogspot.com/
but still no Avitar pics- n two sep clicks to comment is inconvenient.
Good luck!
We're glad that you're still (virtually) here as well! I haven't transitioned yet, I suppose I'm just dragging my feet. Oh well, I'll get to it eventually!
Here from Michele's today
I refuse to upgrade until its absolutely necessary!! Damn the man!! Here via Michele as always.
Hi Carmi - I had the same problem... and all my lovely commenters were reverted to simply 'anon'.
Getting there though .. getting there ....
Here via myself today
;)
I just did the change last night, and so far so good. I'm also going over to my own domain soon, and might consider either Wordpress or Moveable Type. I use both for work blogs, and frankly, blogger is the easiest of the three to use. MT is a pita and requires a lot of HTML, and Wordpress has some weird issues with uploading pictures.
What are you thinking?
Carmy: I relate with the same experence. In my case I never know if I should follow the "Old Blogger" steps of Publishing, then hitting "Republish". The "Publish" is faster. The latter goes on forever. It's hit and miss. I personally don't like it. Then there's sign-in issues on some Blog Buds. Hope your experience is easier than mine!
* groping in the dark*
where are you? I can't see anything!
shabbat shalom!
Carmi, I moved today as well. I knew I would lose my sidebar stuff - but I thought I could get it back. So far, it will not accept any of the html from the old template. Did you have that problem?
I am also a Blogger turned WordPress user. The transition is fairly easy. Let me know if you need help.
