His Mom was one of the most fun things to watch this week. When he won that squeaker a couple of days ago, she looked like she was going to pass out.
I remember watching when Mark Spitz got his seventh gold and even though I was only 10, I remember thinking that would NEVER happen again.

Have to agree with Thumper, his mom was HILARIOUS!
I love that he really DID have to work hard for some of them. That 1/100th of a second...the same for Dara Torres...that kept her out of the gold...
It's always cool to see history made...and by a young and humble man.
Thumper, I have enjoyed watching his mom, too! The seventh almost-wasn't-gold medal was especially fun. Did you see how she was staring at the monitor, all tensed up and holding up two fingers (presumably to indicate that he was getting second place), then she saw that he won and her hands flew wide open? That was poignant (*nods to Thematic Photographic*). Wish I'd been there to capture it.

Woohoooo Michael Phelps! They were saying in the past 110 (is this right?) years of modern Olympics, over 100,000 thousand athletes has competed and he is the only one that has accomplished this feat. Nice!
