Solar powered?
London, ON, August 2010 Inspiration can come from anywhere. In this case, my friend, Jeff, saved this past-its-prime light bulb for me because he knew I'd find it photographically fascinating. Nice guy, this Jeff.
Of course, he was right. So when I had a free moment, I found a sunny spot for a quick exploration with my camera - oops, make that my wife's camera (shhhh!) I thought sunlight would give an ordinarily forgettable and forgotten sliver of consumer life a somewhat new lease on life. It couldn't create light on its own anymore, but that didn't mean that with a little help from another source of light it couldn't inspire us at least one more time before being sent on its way.
I've got to spend more time looking at garbage in a different way. And I've got to spend more time listening to my friends when they suggest offbeat ideas like this one.
Your turn: I'm in a captioning mood again. Got one for this shot?

I love how every lightbulb burns out differently. They're really art, those black splotches.
Those are tantalizing reflections in that bulb. But alas, even after clicking on it, they remain just barely beyond the pale.
The most significant invention of the modern era seen in a different light (Sorry. It was too obvious to pass up)
Awesome
Re-evaluate "trash."
Wise, Carmi!

I don't have a good title but I love the photo. Maybe you could use a quote from the little boy next door as he looked over my shoulder while I was taking pictures "Boy, things sure look different through a camera."

Back when I could still walk up my Hill, I would pick up "garbaggy" stuff in the street and was going to make a collage of it all and call it "Street Crap"....I love the idea of looking at your garbage a different way, Carmi....
Lovely Lovely picture of a dead viln, my dear.
VILN????? Oh Dear. That should have read BULB....One finger typing and not really seeing all that well can result in another language all together!
One man's trash is another man's...still life!
Nice catch!

Just Follow The Light!
This is a truly inspiring picture. I like that you can see the carbon marks clearly from when the light blew. The way it is almost monochromatic, yet quite lively. Unfortunately I don't yet have one for this assignment, but I will see if something comes to light for me.

(yes, the pun was intended.)
and... "More To Come" ...Twinkle, Twinkle little light bulb with no light, How I wonder what you'll light, up above the garbage so high, like an unlit star in the sky, Twinkle, Twinkle little lost light bulb with no light, Carmi's delight, How we wonder if you'll ever light again!...end of lyrics!
Boy, did that bulb ever blow!!! I don't think I've ever seen one that charred on the inside lol
how about 'Blacklight'? kind of sums it up.
Love this photo...
"turn off the dark" a quote from my pals three year old:)
Dark shadows
{Did you ever see the soap opera by that name in the late 60s early 70s time frame? It was pre-Twilight but had its share of vampires, werewolves, etc.}
Gotta let my mind simmer on the pic and I'll be back if anything rises to the top! :)
