This photo launches our new Thematic Photographic theme, far from home. For the next week, we'll be exploring photos that may have been taken, ah, far from your home. I know, such creativity!
As ever, how you interpret it is entirely up to you. For example, I offer you the picture to the left. It was taken in New York City, which by my odometer is about 880km from my front door, which would easily qualify it as far from home. But beyond the literal interpretation, there's the rather incongruous sight of a horse in the middle of a large city. I'd venture he's pretty far from home, too.
So as you choose your own contributions to the theme, please feel free to come up with any excuse you wish to justify the "far from home" connection. And have fun with it. Because that's why we do this, no?

Far from home for me could have been several places, but this shot of the rail side grain elevators in Inglis, Manitoba fits the bill for today. So different than growing up in Toronto.

Somewhere warm and sunny...
I haven't been that far from home since May of last year... so I have to live vicariously through my brother's travels. He just returned to Vienna from Tokyo.. so I thought I would look at some of his fare. Tokyo is just about as far from home as you can get.
One more 'far from home' set, with story of course.

Far from Home - I love this theme, though it does leave me on the melancholy side.
Glad to be posting a Thematic Photographic again after just watching from the sidelines for so long. Had good intentions of posting photos that fit the theme throughout the week, I guess one post squeaking in at the last moment will have to do. (some things never change.)
