But as much as I'd like to think that I can get decent pictures with my smartphone, there's still something remarkably freeing about how a real camera feels in your hand, and how it opens up possibilities that no phone will ever match.
No, I couldn't live-share to Twitter or Periscope my adventures. But shots like this make me realize why I still schlep it along when every other logical bone in my body says to leave it home. I need to get back to shooting.
Real shooting. I've missed it.

I promise to capture my part 2 on straight lines and get it here before Monday!
This is a very cool photo.
I am by no means a photographer, but I have noticed that my cell phone camera takes utterly awful pictures when I zoom in. I don't have a DSLR but our 10-year-old digital camera does much, much better using zoom. That means that on my recent trip, I was taking photos with two cameras - my cell phone (so I could send them right away to my elderly relatives who weren't able to make the trip), and my clunky digital camera (which requires me to wait until I get home to upload to the computer), so I could have some decent photos.
that image is seriously cool
