Watching the city come alive

You never quite know what the new day will bring, but it never hurts to look out the window first.

There's so much potential here, so many stories waiting to play out, so much barely contained anticipation of what will - or could - happen next. I'll never get enough moments like this, where anything seems possible.

I shot this five years ago, so I already know that this particular day lived up to the promise of the skyline-silhouetted sunrise, and then some.

But even as I stood there and drank in the scene of the big city coming alive, I already knew that I was in for a good day. Sometimes you can just tell.
