Brightwork
Vail, Colorado, November 2006 [Click to embiggen]
I like chromed, bright surfaces because they seem to show up especially well through a camera lens. So while walking through the ski village - no, I didn't bump into any celebs, as it was a week before the ski hills opened for business - I came across this small detail that caught my eye.
Any guesses?

Well, this is interesting. I just finished watching the movie "The World's Fastest Indian" and this photo reminds me of a chrome hubcap.
Stopping by to say hello, Carmi. Wow, you're in a very swanky place! Have fun!
Could it be a stack of chrome trays and chafers - perhaps in an antique/junque shop?
I haven't a clue and it's driving me crazy! Keep 'em coming, the answer is always a complete surprise.
thanks for stopping by, your pictures are very intriguing, reminds me of something from an old juke box or antique hubcap
Plates in a restaurant?
Your photographs are beautiful.
-merly
How about some sort of heater???
Great shot Carmi.
Nice photos.
The asymmetry makes it a tough guess.
Another camera?
Thanks for the visit! Nice pictures, the kind you sit and find several different things in one. I like your prospective. You never know what will make a good picture.
Definitely some sort of gas-powered, heat source, but I don't suspect a cooktop.
Back to the photo fun, Carmi? It is great fun, too. Good to see ya!
I'm thinking it might be a chromed tail light? You always keep me on my toes!
"i don't know ( hisses:) but I like it!"
I was attacked by Mozilla robots yesterday... anyone else? whew 250 attempted comments!
Wwhen the war between men and machines begins, I am betting on the machines.
Hmmm...I sit here staring at the chrome photo, when I should be working, lol! I think it's either a hubcap on the back of an antique car, or something on a jukebox.
There. Now I can get on with my day! lol!
By the way, I look forward to enjoying the rest of your blog...and thank you for your visit to mine!
part of the inside of an overhead light?
I have no idea what it is, but I'm guessing that it was found in a restaurant... maybe I'll get that much right.
Well, it looks like a close up of the chrome tire thingy...I cannot think of what you call that...LOL! Oh Yeah...HUBCAP!...But that seems too easy, Carmi....Hmmmmmm.
How about a burner on a stove? I can't belive I am still thinking about this...
Perhaps a water faucet handle?
I'm not sure but I DO like the way that chrome jumps out of the photo at you.
OK, my guess is a chrome accent around the lights of a sports car.
Part of a car??
I'm thinking rim from a tire?
Glad to see things are going well, Carmi! :) Great shot, as usual.
Kudos to Linda, Roxanne, Tanya and Naomi for narrowing it down to something automotive.
Here's the lowdown: As I strolled through the village, I came across a car manufacturer's display. Volvo had placed a lovely burgundy XC90 on a pedestal for everyone to see - and presumably ogle.
This image is a closeup of the driver-side front headlight assembly. I've got a thing for automotive lights, and these seemed so clean and sharp.
Thanks, everyone, for playing along. I've got lots more photo mysteries to share. Stay tuned!
