AND THE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER BEGINS!

A brief-yet-ongoing journal of all things Carmi. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll reach for your mouse to click back to Google. But you'll be intrigued. And you'll feel compelled to return following your next bowl of oatmeal. With brown sugar. And milk.

I love that time of night - when they are settling down. The time when you finally get "quiet" in the home.
bed time at our house was always kid and dad time. i stayed downstairs (usually cleaning up the dinner mess) and dad read books and tucked the kids in. it was always such a special time.
he's not his father's boy is he!!!!!
one of mine is not well curled up on the sofa right now - very much in need of cuddles and very sleepy - bless
always enjoy when i drop by my friend
It's a beautiful picture. I love his wise espression atop all the sweet kid sheets!
I'll still get the goodnight hug from my sons. My older one is only around for the holidays, but even my 18 year old tough guy will comply. Sometimes even without eye-rolling. ;) Do cherish those days. They're as beautiful as those sleepy eyes looking back at you.
Back in early March 2005 I wrote this poem about this very topic:
The Face in the Window
It is midnight, and I am doing a final walk in the house for the night,
picking up forgotten books,
straightening sofa pillows,
looking in on my dear children
fast asleep in their beds,
the moon peering down
upon them through a
crack between
window and window shade
a crease of light
haloing their heads
as they sigh in their sleep --
my little treasures.
i just love that shot- and that time of day.
I'm waiting for him to close his eyes. Quiet is such a welcomed contrast when there are young ones in the house.
I may post something for this tomorrow, but wanted to say meanwhile how much I love the picture. It is the most special of times, watching our children drift off to sleep, knowing that they are safe.
You always capture a moment so perfectly, Carmi.
Bella :)
