It's a sad day when we realize the colors of autumn have peaked and all that's left is a headlong rush toward a landscape of bare trees under a steel-gray sky. I suspect that day might have already happened here in the wilds of southwestern Ontario, but I don't much worry about it.
Even if the season is about to take a monochrome turn, I figure it's simply another palette to explore, another challenge to take on through the lens. And if I find myself wanting to see some color, I can always click on the archives here for a quick dose before returning to reality.
Your turn: What will you be capturing this autumn and winter? How will you keep it interesting?

I'm supposed to be capturing insects for entomology, but I need another warm day! I pushed my luck. Fellow Carmiologists, please catch insects and give them to me.
Well...not having too many trees that "turn" here in Los Angeles...especially where I live, I will continue to take pictures of whatever plants are still blooming and/or bearing fruit!
Love when the birds come to feast on these beautiful fruits...!
Here from Michele, Carmi...!
Our leaves haven't changed much here, Carmi, except in a few spots or a few isolated trees. I think I will be capturing mostly family photos this fall and winter; the holidays are coming soon.
Michele sent me, again.
Autumn is six months away here, and winter is quite green - some of the trees lose their leaves, but our native trees don't, and the grass is greener in winter when it gets more rain.
At the moment I'm photographing flowers quite a lot, and baby ducklings.

We don't get too many changing leaves here in Florida....
This winter I want to work on getting some good shots of Christmas lights. I am also starting in on a project of some black and white photots for some redecorating that we are doing at our church.
Here from Michele!!
Michele sent me back again.. this afternoon I am heading up the hill, hoping to make it to the top to take photos of the other side
Michele sent me back, so I could say how much I love the color in your current photo. I wore a sweater today in that color.
An hour north of here the trees have changed a lot more than here. There seems to be a few that have changed and fallen early and others not even at the beginning stage.
I guess after everything goes into hibernation, I will capture cats, Christmas ornaments, maybe more people, and winter trees are still quite photogenic.
Here from Michele.
I don't know, but I do love that photograph you've taken. I try to savor the changing leaves while they're here, too, and it seems like this autumn was just far too brief and sudden to enjoy, for once.
Looking at that picture reminds me that we really need to take a day trip to see changing leaves before they are all finished changing.
Michele sent me back!
As I previously posted, I will be capturing the tree outside my apartment, which always seems to lose its leaves without my noticing. Not this year, TREE! I've got you now. This morning I realized that the Xmas light strand that was there when I moved in 6 years ago is still hanging in the tree.
Michele sent me. . . again.
They look like flags wilted in the heat.
your caption really brings it all together with this one! love it!
