Wordless Wednesday - Glassy rim

Fill it to the rim
Toronto, ON, June 2008 [Click to embiggen]

All week long, I've been posting glass-themed photos as part of the latest Thematic Photographic entry. This one is one of my faves because although the glass itself is a hard substance, the composition and lighting make this seem like a very soft scene.

Oops, sorry for the confusion: What's Thematic Photographic? Well, if you're a WW fan, then TP may interest you. Please read on...

Your turn: Click here to learn more about Thematic Photographic - and to throw your own link into the mix. I'll be posting next week's TP theme later on Wednesday evening, but you're always welcome to contribute to last week's theme as well.

PS and an amazing eye!:) Any tips on how to look at an image or scene differently in order to capture a unique angle, etc.?

What is in the glass?

Happy WW, Carmi!

I like how this photo captures the hard of the glass and the soft of the contents!

The thematic photography theme is very interesting - I'm enjoying it!

Hi Carmi... I really like this image. I like it better than the one you showed the day you announced this week's theme. Striking in its simplicity. And yet, as you said, soft. What's in it?

Lovely shot. I nearly posted a shot of the rim of a glass of tea myself today but ended up changing my mind at the last minute and going for something else entirely. The glass shot wasn't bad, but it was lacking some of the drama I felt it needed. I'll have to try again next time I decide to have a cup of tea.

Okay, okay... I am a dork. I got so excited that today was Wednesday... and I forgot that you don't post the new Thematic Photograpic theme until the evening. And, well... I ended up with this:

See you again later!

P.S. What is inside your glass? And I really like this photo and was (obviously) inspired.

Interesting. I see what you mean about the contrast of the glass texture with whatever is inside. Cool.

I like that idea too. Nice b/w shot and the image does contain both a hard and soft element about it. Nice.

I love this photo. I've recently become a very big fan of taking close ups of random stuff. Wish I had caught this before I posted my WW.
