Red rose
London, ON, March 2007 [Click for extreme closeup]
About this photo: We're winding down our exploration of floral as part of this week's Thematic Photographic. There's still time to submit yours, if you wish. Just click here. We unveil the next TP theme tomorrow eve. Want a sneak peek? Read on...My wife's got a thing for red roses. There's something about the way they open up to reveal a multi-layered world of absolute perfection. It's inspiring when you realize nature can create such loveliness from, well, nothing. A silly little plant, basically, becomes...this.
I need to bring these home more often. She deserves no less.
Your turn: What do flowers mean to you?

Ah yes, our next TP theme...You didn't think I'd forget, did you? It will be:
Round
Tune in tomorrow (Wednesday) at precisely 7:00 p.m. EDT when the first round-themed Thematic Photographic entry goes live on Written Inc. Looking forward to seeing what you've got!

The only word that I could get out when I saw this was "wow". Not Wow! or even "Wow!", but a quiet, almost reverent "wow". Because... wow.
and as corny as it sounds, I get a little bit tingly when I hear the obvious love in your virtual voice when you talk about your family. And I think it might be just slightly elevated when I hear the way you speak of your wife. To see two people still clealry in love after 3 trips down the road of sleepless nights... it's special. Not something that every couple can survive even. So whatever the two of you got going, I hope it's always this way.
Round... what are things that are round... hmm... I'm looking around (no pun intended) my desk and spotting things everywhere. seriously. My collection of souvenir hockey pucks for one thing. Blank CD-R's and DVD-R's D-Cell batteries... Oh yeah, I can see this one's gonna be easy. Might have to set up the improv studio after the Canes game.
What, you didn't think I'd be TP-ing during the game did ya?
What do flowers mean to me? My goodness that would take a whole post! But let's just make it short. Flowers are magic, pure and simple. You plant a seed or bulb in the earth, and with a little sunshine and some rain a beautiful, colourful, sweet-smelling flower appears. And the Earth sings!
The world loves us;
it gives us
FLOWERS!
Aloha
and nothing smells as sweet
reminds me of a funnel...a neverending red
Rose is my middle name..and like your wife, I'm partial to the red roses. My husband gave me some for my birthday and I couldn't bear to throw them out and kept the petals in a bowl. They still smell so wonderful!
Your wife is a lucky woman and yes you should buy her red roses as often as possible. My husband doesn't get a chance, I love them so much I buy them for myself. I swear he thinks I've got a boyfriend..lol.

Gorgeous photo that feels especially appropriate for the springtime weather we've been having here in Cali.
That's beautiful...
but to me flowers = bees and bees = sting and sting = sick for 3 days.
So I[m not a huge fan of flowers, at least not up close and personal.
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! There's something so incredibly timeless about the fleeting beauty of a rose.
I've got a fun one for round to post tomorrow - I shot it last Saturday and it's been looking for the right venue ever since :).
In a spiritual context there is no parralel, unfolding surrender to the permeating intoxicating essence of a fragrant bloom. In reality it means cutting stems and avoiding the thorns ;) Happy WW
I like the swirling pattern. Happy WW! :)
This is gorgeous!
I love the smell of flowers :)
Your photo captures the essence of the rose. It is perfection.
Planting a seed,or inserting an apparently dead little stick into the soil, is the ultimate sign of hope. It never ceases to amaze me that something so lovely can be the end result of such a thing.
I'm kind of speechless. Amazing.
Flowers: can't say all right here, but joy, happiness, hope, life.
Beautiful swirling vortex in the center and the color reminds me of Snow White that deep shade her lips were said to be in the story. Gorgeous Carmi!
I love roses! What a gorgeous shot.
Happy WW! Mama & D in SF http://tinyurl.com/ca6w43

"A rose by any other name still spells on tweet."
Bette Midler
Ned Flanders field - rose upon rose.
I did not pick up my current gardening magazine on roses.
It was a thorny issue.

Hi, Carmie,
That's beautiful. Re: what flowers meet to me - Hey, look - I'm going to be contrary again: I think flowers are pretty, but they don't hold any real magic for me.
But that really is a great photo. Oh & Netchick sent me.
