iPhone, iCarmi, iMarcia

Every once in a while, the stars align and I get to appear on television. Last night was one of those star-aligning moments, as I spoke live with CTV News Channel's Marcia MacMillan. We were chatting about the latest Apple-related news, as it had been another big week for the company that Steve Jobs built.

On Thursday, Apple announced a new version of the operating system that powers most of its mobile devices. Known as iPhone OS v4.0, it brings new capabilities, such as multitasking, improved e-mail and an in-application advertising network, to the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Well, it will deliver those capabilities when it's released to the unwashed masses later this summer.

So I chatted with Marcia (or iMarcia, if you hang in till the end) and somewhere along the way gave myself a new name, too.

(And if you're in the mood to read, here's a link to my Betanews column, The True Cost of iAd, that zooms in specifically on the new advertising network.)

Your turn: Marcia asked a great question toward the end...what should Apple's next i-branded product be called?

Many years ago when we first moved to the Kingston area Marcia was an anchor on the local news. I liked her then. Pretty but smart. And she hasn't changed a bit.
