You say tomato...

They say nothing tastes better than vegetables grown in your own garden. Well, these didn't come from my own garden because I do not have a garden. Which is a good thing, because if I had a garden it would be filled with, well, nothing. I kill plants, especially when they're outside, baking in a southwestern Ontario sun. I believe my photo has been posted at the entrance to the local garden centre, and I am quite certain I am banned from purchasing anything that even remotely resembles plants, flowers or even seeds.
My gardenish ineptitude isn't all for naught, however. My inability to grow things from the earth has taught me to appreciate this gift in others. So when our gifted friend gave us these tomatoes from her garden, they were more than mere vegetables. A kitchen table photo shoot was called for, and the result makes me happy.
Your turn: This photo launches our newest
Thematic Photographic theme,
"still life". What's still life? Simple: If you put it on a table and carefully arrange it so you can take an artsy picture of it, it's still life. What's going on on your table? Shoot it, post it, then let us know where to find it by posting a comment here. Rules, such as they are, for our weekly photo insanity
can be found here.

I love tomatoes, they are very versatile... sauces, bruschettas, sandwiches, salsas...here is my entry:

Isn't it great when friends give you food from their garden? I may take a shot at this theme, the last one worked well for me, and this is even easier. It's fun!
Here is my photo for this week: Bear faced cheek

I swear, I put everything in right, and still the link gets messed up. I'll try again.

Boy, this one was a challenge. It's my first try with Still Life. I started out with veggies. That didn't go well. After tearing the whole house apart, I ended up with this...

Mine carries the red theme forward, minus the tomatoes...
Still, Life
Carmi, thank you for your thoughtful, deeply meaningful words on the autumn series I posted. It means a lot to me to have the eyes of a fellow photographer on my work and know that I'm conveying the magic that I see.
And here is my contribution:

After being stymied for a while, I really enjoyed this challenge. I just got mine up.

Carmi, you remind me that there isn't much time left to take pictures of our tomatoes.
Here's Saturday submission:

Only an inside chicken could have this much excitement. Loved your little "red guys" snap as we call them,(they appear straight from someone's garden) here is my table to share!

The Cocky Ruler of Books
So many options for Still Life and such great interpretations! I was tempted to pull from my archive, but resisted and did pull out my camera. Find my entry here:

I'd go for some home-grown tomatoes. Unfortunately, the squirrels always seem to steal everything I try to grow before I get a crack at it. So I've pretty well given up on trying to grow anything.
I went with a red-themed still life too, just lots less organic.
It took me a while, this subject is really outside of my comfort zone but here it is.
well now that bites ... link should have worked ... try again here
While antiquing over the weekend captured this still life on a path outside a shoppe.
I wish my tomatoes had grown like this! My "still life" is here along with a strange rambling childhood memory that it brought back.
Just managed to get mine in before you think of another subject!
i am really sorry Carmi, but there's no room for still life in our home right now....it's a pile of papers, sewing kit. piles of extra something or other and yesterdays list....along with 3 stones and a whole heap of stuff that hasn't got a home.
Life?
Yup
Still?
nooooo
c ya next week :)
i know it's almost time for the next theme, still here is mine for still life
