Cyclical color in a snowy land

We woke up to this today. Not the bike sitting on the lawn, but snow. And even then, just a sprinkling, a taste of what's to come. And it'll probably melt off by lunchtime.

I don't tend to fret about changing weather. It's going to happen no matter what we do, so we may as well adapt and move on. Better to focus on the things we can change.

Still, I felt a slight pang of sadness on seeing my garish pink machine juxtaposed against the now-almost-monochrome landscape. Whether I like it or not, another biking season is inevitably drawing to a close, and with it, my self-powered radius gets a little smaller. One cycle begets another...I'm just glad I'm here to experience it all.

Your turn: What are you thankful for?

I was contemplating just yesterday on my way out of work how inevitable the weather change is, and how much it still annoys me. I suppose that's a reason real estate is so expensive in California and Florida. And why the homeless can wander the streets in (most of) their cities without dread of the first frost.

I think the last time we saw that bike it was sitting along side the road on a perfect day! Yes we've had our first snow too, and it melted all away, and it's been nearly autumn like, but again tonight we'll see some of that white stuff...we'll just have to put all the bikes away again!

That beginning of snow for you was what we had a few months ago... and it lasted for two days...lol... that was considered a lot for Calif... and to Mark: the prices are lowering in Cali... and from what I have read, people are leaving the state because of the expense... I've lived here all my life and yes, it may be considered expensive, then again Cali is envied for its weather which is pretty confused right now... At least we're not as expensive as Hawaii..LOL

Thankful for? Fat bikes. Because even at -40, the cycling season never ends, for me... :)

I am about to disappear off and sit in contemplative silence for a while.

I am thankful for pockets of peace....

I am thankful for the time to be by myself, and think - or not :)

I wish it happened more often...

It's cold outside, but I'm thankful for the camera and a fire.

I am thankful that I can show up here after long periods of time and still find you blogging. You are an old timer like me.

And I am grateful that we don't have cold weather and more importantly that my family is healthy.

Every time I see a winter picture I’m grateful that I no longer have to experience snow. It’s unheard of in Lanzarote; though we do get about five days rain a year and the odd hail shower. I’m thankful for the warmth of the sun on my skin.

I found nothing colorful in the winter white landscape yesterday--even my hair looked drab. I went and had a lot of sunlight run through it. Now I have to find a spot where it's believable. My bike is in and up on its stationary perch--even at 70, I keep on trekking. Biking is like golf, you can do it your whole life. The scenery is better when you're moving.

Right now I am 100% thankful for the snuggly warm, lined and hooded knitted jacket that my wonderful husband bought me a few Christmas's ago.

Hail is falling as I type....
