Its all right for Babe Ruth, who is/was probably big, strong and quite fearsome. Smaller and/or female persons might not want to give up, but could be pulverised (either physically or metaphorically) into submission.

But I dare say there are lots of instances where not giving up has given the smaller person the victory!
