Another day of maple trees

As the sun slowly disappears from view, I pause beside the bare-branched maple tree to reflect on the privilege of having been given another day.

We may not give much thought to how many of them we get, but as I take in the quiet spectacle of a tree stretching out into the sky that sustains it, I remind myself that none of this is infinite.

So despite the fact that all I have is a smartphone in one hand and a wiggly dog pulling on the other, I decide to record the moment in some small way.

Because there’s nothing small about being able to witness another sunset. All those small moments eventually add up to something significantly larger, after all.
