The reason I write about her today is to call attention to her recent trip to the U.S. Gulf Coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. So much has been written and said about the tragedy and the country’s response to it. But few have managed to illustrate the scene so poignantly as she. Here’s a quick rundown of some of her dispatches from the region:
- September 01 – `Where's the help? This is America!'
- September 02 – Tales of woe shame a nation
- September 03 – Doors never closed at this Big Easy bar
- September 04 – The human baggage of Iberville
- September 05 – 'Some of them just won't leave'
- September 06 – In a ghost town, the rot's exposed
- September 07 – `We will build another, better New Orleans'
- September 08 – New Orleans: City of holdouts
- September 09 – Hotel a 5-star oasis of grace and humanity
- September 10 – U.S. must examine its soul
- September 12 – From ruins of New Orleans, spectre of hope rises

Just stopping by to say hello. I'm not around much lately, but that doesn't mean I don't think about my blogging friends. Happy Birthday to your beautiful wife and goregous daughter, and thank you for the pictures of Seattle - I miss it there!
Well today, CArmi, I'm reading you! And enjoying it.
Hello! Michele sent me! :) I'll be back!
Rosie I like. I just wish she wrote for a different paper.
As for who I like, I don't read him that much any more, but I've always enjoyed Dave Barry. Even when he was Harry Anderson.
Hi Carmi- At the moment I am here via Michele. During the Sept 11, 2001 terrorist attack I learned it is often good to get an idea what the rest of the world is saying, and not to just rely on American newcasts.
Took a trip to your wife's blog this morning. After all, it's all in the family, right?
Hey, Michele sent me.
I like reading Richard Roeper's columns, he can be found at www.suntimes.com.
My wife is a reading specialist and devours books, especially young adult type stories. I am currently reading Lemony Snickett's second book.
Absolutely, Dena. I like reading the world through her eyes. It's a much nicer view than mine.
I am reading Curious Georoge!
Hoo hoo hoo ha ha ha!
Here from Michele's!! Hope you are having a great weekend...I like to read from people in the US I just feel like others have a bad idea about us to begin with but if you read from American's they are more about whats going on...do you know what I am saying??? hm oh well...TTYL!!
Here via micheles again. I really haven't read anything about the Hurricane lately. I am trying not to b/c it gets to me. Puts me in a bad place.
Rex Murphy from The Globe and Mail. An extremely intelligent man with a rapier wit. I once wrote a post about him, extolling his many virtues:

dimanno is as low as you get. In Iraq she wrote of seeing US soldiers gun down Iraqi troops wading with hands over their heads in surrender in the Euphrates. When asked by CBC Morning radio to speak about it, she said "I don't do radio." As she left Baghdad she said some Arab tweaked her tit. I think she should be locked up. She hates Arabs. Zionists, of course, are pleased with her. But this is the stuff that stokes fires of hatred throughout the world. Her best stories are about how some old fart chased her around the office years ago when she was a girl.
How about Siddiqui?
