Florally photographic diversion

Because it's been such a fun-filled week of sleeplessness and illness, I thought I'd post something pretty and sweet to boost the collective mood around here.

As I wallowed alone at home this week, I found myself looking for comfort in everything around me. It's almost like a nesting instinct in that I seek out whatever touchstone brings warmth.

As part of this process, I meandered through some old photos. I've always enjoyed looking at images captured long ago. It's like a time machine, only less expensive.

This particular picture has always made me happy. I like the color, the composition and the mood. It's almost impossible not to feel better after seeing it.

Your turn: What images make you feel better when the world turns cold? Should I post some more so-called "comfort pictures" in the days ahead?

My animals. Just looking at them relaxes me. On my Cellphone, I keep pics of them (more than of my kids!!) to use in case of insanity at work.

Here from Michele's today!

Ice cream! I've had a killer sore throat, and the stuff works wonders. But you have to eat it all day long to keep the pain at bay. Not that I'm complaining. . .

Sorry you've been "under the weather," Carmi.

Damn, you pose great queries. I'm all about my boys.

And hockey.

Though I don't usually turn to 'images' first. I'm one of those chubby bastards that reaches for the ice cream scoop or creme brulèe torch.

here via Michele today.

Some of my most treasured pics are up on my blog now. Especially the one of my mom and the one of Kendell sitting on the hill of dandelions. Those two bring the most comfort.

Comfort photos?
1. beaches (preferable in Hawaii or Fiji)
2. animals (not monitor lizards, but cute, sweet baby animals)
3. flowers of any type
4. babies (anyone's babies)

That's because Daisies are the happiest of flowers ;)

My mother made a Flip Album of Girl Terror's first year. The music combined with the pictures make me feel so much better, works every time.

Any old photo caught so long ago that its age shows. A photo that reminds me that no matter what may be happening time will continue to march forward and with it will come a new time of comfort, joy, energy, what ever it may be that I am lacking.

Thanks for stopping by today Carmi.

Michele says 'hi'.

Cheers,

P.

naked women images - so full of warmth and comfort. lol

They are very pretty. I just went through my baby book today for a mom photo for Mother's Day. They do get you emotionally...my mom looked like a baby herself! Any photo of a happy child gets me.

I don't like violence in pics even though I know sometimes I might need to see it for it to become real.

Well...you've seen my Staten Island Ship graveyard photos. They're a real pick-me-up.~,:^)

I hit the art books in my modest, verging on immodest library.

I like comfort pictures more than comfort food. It's not fattening and it lasts longer too. Color. Nature.

Old photos -- like the one of my grandparents' old store back in the 50's. It was a "dime store/soda fountain," and I can stare at the photo for hours, finding new things on the shelves and counters. They later had a country store that sold everything from long underwear to bologna.

Visiting from Michele's this time, although I've been coming here without her "prompting" as well!

I hope you're taking that Cher survey now. It will make you feel much better about all the hosing down!

Get back over to Lam(b) if you didn't or I'll never blog to you again. OK, that's a lie.

Oh My Lord,YES! Post some more of these comfort pictures, my dear Carmi! I LOVE this picture. I can feel the comfort of it in my bones!! I look view old, (as in older) photographs sometimes..this series I have been been posting these last days..Mother& Daughter photographs..are old...and I hope you get a chance to stop by...I'm very proud of these photographs and the ones I already posted...well, I'm not sure of the date, but I think it was May 5th or 6th??
Anyway...I sometimes find it very comforting to revisit older photographs I have taken. Or, listening to some really great music that stirred me as a younger person..THAT'S comforting to me. My kitty is extremely comforting. All my cats always were, and Sweetie still is wonderfully comforting and relaxing.

Maybe it;s because I'm a "regular", anyway!

That's a beautiful photo. There are many things that can warm me when I'm feeling cold or lonely. Certainly, looking at flowers always warms me right up.

Cuddling with you and the kids has to be number 1.

But I also love to lie under the covers with a good book and peace and quiet all around. Maybe add a good cup of coffee to the mix.

Carmi; For me it's programs like Paul Newman's "Hole In The Wall Gang Camp" and the simpler miracles of Love, Courage, Acceptance and having Fun that brings me back to the Good Earth!

Hope you feel better soon, Carmi! The Summer is just around the corner!!
