Earlier this weekend, I
posted a picture as part of my ongoing and occasional photographic mystery series. Many readers made some pretty fascinating guesses in the comments section, but I regret to inform y'all that no one has come remotely close to getting it.
Rather than simply blurt out the response, I thought I'd post another image of the same subject, taken at the same time, only from a different angle. This should make it a little more obvious (I'm sorry they're so off the charts sometimes...I hope you're having as much time wondering about them as I have taking them.)
Your turn: So, now that you've seen this hint - and the
original - what is it? What three words come to mind as you see this? Should I continue to share these image-based mysteries?

oh heck yea! i love your mystery photos... and i still have no clue... but the silver thing in the middle looks like a nail... so i'm guessing some kind of sign...
i just put my guesses in your original post... i'm sure i'm not even close now!
Hi from Michele's this time...and I"m no closer to figuring this out. But.....pothole in street?
Some kind of wood with a nail/tack in it? That's as close as I'll ever get tonight!
P.S. - Here from Michele's :)
two clues and I'm still in the dark, but I'm guessing it has something to do with a car.
Michele sent me.
have no friggin clue. the round thing sort of looks like a beehive, only then the first clue would make no sense. Michele sent me.
I like games. I didn't look at the comments from the first photo, but from the look of both I would guess you are at the beach where there are rocks, sandstone rocks... and maybe some shells.
Hullo from Michele. Nice to "see" you again.
I thought the first one was a loaf of bread, but now I have no idea. Something in concrete, perhaps?
And heck, yeah, keep sharing!
my guesses are either a new face on Mars or a piece of stale german chocolate cake (with a nail in it).
Incredible texture even tho I can't figure out what it is.

Hmmm...a bullet hole? Satellite image of a planetary or moon surface? A close up of my skin? (Just kidding on that last one!)
Oh, DO continue your picture mysteries. They force us to perceive the world around us in whole new ways.
Not here from Michele's, but here nevertheless! ;)
Its a snail on a sand.
3 words: swirl, small, unknown.
I love mysteries... Yes, go ahead and keep them coming..
My three words? Making...me...crazy. I have NO idea what I'm looking at!! Argh!
Perhaps if you zoom out a bit, hm, or perhaps a little more light, or, yes, I know...why don't you just TELL ME? Remember...patience is not my strong suit.... ;)
I love your picture mysteries, but this one has me completely stumped.
Is it a button?
A piece of wood with a nail in it?
Oh......a thumbtack in a very textured wall??
It looks like a nail driven into a block of wood.
Three words that come to mind: Dark. Nature. Wood.
Yes, please carry on with these image mysteries! :)
OK, I am also totally stumped. I'm now thinking frozen soda...frozen something. My three words?
I See Ice.
Love the mystery photos but it's killin' me to have to wait for the answer!
Well! I still have no clue whatsoever. Boy, I'm bad at this game.
A screw in the bottom of a flower pot? That's as close as I get... wrong I know.
Mystery photos are fun.
Bottom of a candle? Naw, you're messing with my head with them there clues, that's all.

wow.. i love reading all the replies and guesses! and when i guessed on the original post, i didnt read the comments first because i didnt want them to influence my guess... i love your pix!!!! and looks like you're inspiring other people as well!
Persia: getting warmer.
Still no idea here, Carmi. But I love your mysteries.
rivet, pitted metal as part of a forged steel machine, perhaps a hand garden tool left out in the weather?
Persia and Tina have collaborated on this one. It is a candle. Specifically, it is a very large rectangular candle in our friends' house. It sits on a knee-wall and it has multiple wicks.
The first image is a view of one of the sides. The wax seems to have cooled at different rates, leading to the interesting patterns on the surface.
The second image is taken top-down. The round feature is the little bit of wax that has been melted by the burning wick - its stub is dead-centre.
Thank you so much for being so gracious and creative with your guesses. I'll have to think extra-hard to come up with a photographic challenge to top this.
Suggestions are welcome.
sooo, and i have to ask... what scent is the candle?
Question... now that we know its a candle *i was still tryin to guess when i read the answer and i didnt believe you...*... i am wondering - did you invert the colours of the candle?
I say this because:
I didnt believe that what im looking at could possible be a wick stump dead centre in the middle *because i was imagining the stump of the wick to be black*
So... i inverted the colors and now what a get is a more of a candle looking image with a foresty green/brownish color...
If you DIDNT invert the colors, why not try it and see yourself, i looked away and then look back and its more easy to register the colors are different...
Your just fantastic Carmi! Im sad i missed this one but enjoy the rest of your day now! :D
this better NOT be from your recent colonoscopy!!!
