Visiting the Wart Tree

Just off the path that traces a graceful line through the woods alongside the river, a single tree stands out from the rest.

We jokingly call it the Wart Tree, because its trunk isn’t just covered with countless protrusions and complex shapes. It is, quite literally, defined by them.

I don’t know enough about trees to understand how this particular one came to grow in this bizarre-looking manner. But it stops me dead in my tracks and invites me in for a closer look every time I come this way.

Because it is unique. Because it has a story. Or many stories. Because it offers up something new every time we see it.

On this day, I think I see something I’ve never seen before, and set out to capture it somehow. Whether I have succeeded, or not, is up to you. What do YOU see? And when should I return?
