Hitting the road, again and again

Today the wonderbike took me to Ilderton. Even better, she got me back home safely.

Each ride pushes a little further than the one before. This one was just over 42km through the agricultural hinterlands northwest of the city, probably a little further than I should have gone at this stage, but I'm glad I resisted the early voices in my head that might have ended the ride far sooner.

The outward leg was fast and smooth, thanks largely to fair winds and great road conditions. Even the drivers were universally kind, leaving tons of room and waving as they passed.

The winds shifted and intensified on the way back, though, so I may have looked grumpy as I fought to keep pace.

Clearly it'll be a while before I'm back in bike shape, but just getting out and feeling the road through my fingertips is already doing wonders for my soul.

I wonder where we'll end up tomorrow. Suggestions welcome.
