I tend to think of things in terms of befores and afters - especially when it comes to pictures.

Facebook Memories decided to serve up a whopper of a "before" today, taken on a perfectly ordinary summer's afternoon in the middle of an otherwise ordinary bike ride.

It was Sunday, August 4th, 2013. I was cruising the bike path beside the river when I decided to stop beside the fountain and watch the waters dance.

Before long, out came the BlackBerry (!) and some early-smartphone-photography happened. And as I got back on the bike for the ride home, I was blissfully unaware that this would be my last ride and photo for a while.

Life is filled with tangents, apparently.
