CBC News - The National - 10 p.m. tonight

I'm not one to count my chickens before they're hatched, but this exploding laptops story (see here and here for earlier entries) keeps growing.

The nightly CBC News program, The National, is sending a camera to interview me this afternoon. If all goes well, a clip of my yakking head may make it onto tonight's program.

The fun starts at 10 p.m. Eastern.

Update - 9:41 p.m.: CBC Newsworld - the all-news channel - carried The National at 9 p.m., and I was on! They picked a good clip, and they included footage of me demonstrating the backside of a laptop (I feel like Madge the Palmolive lady when I watch it.)

The main CBC network will carry The National at 10 p.m., and it will continue to be rerun by CBC Newsworld through the overnight period (11, midnight...) Damn, this is cool!

Another Update: If you don't live in Canada and want to see the newscast (or, heck, even if you do live in Canada), click on The National's home page, then select the "Watch The National Online" link just below the main logo. It'll connect you to a Real video stream (.RAM) format. If you don't have the player, click here to download it. Tonight's newscast will be available online after 11:30 p.m. ET.

How exciting! COngratulations!

By the way, I love the picture of the fish and the picture of the cookies. Now that I think about it, I'm kind of hungry.

Good luck. There was a Fedex plane that caught on fire at Phila. Int. Airport last winter. Just yesterday they blamed it on laptop batteries. I'll see if I can find a link to the story. How calm are yo to be blogging when you are about to be interviewed on a major network!

We have CBS at 11:00. Not the same, I suppose. For a minute I thought I read it that way and thought I would see you on TV.

Now that I know laptops can explode, I might feel differently about mine.

Michele is starting early.

Cool! Am a teacher in Ont. and all I know is that my board is taking away my music room so there goes the program...and they were pushing The Arts?!! I'm teaching in the middle of a pod and SERT room!!! AHH!

Hi Carmi, nice clip.
That link from star mentions three other battery mishaps related to airplanes, all while the batteries were not in use. Makes you wonder if the changes in air pressure help trigger the bad stuff, not just heat from use.

Saw it. Canadian Mark yelled, "Hey! He's no "Research Analyst!" He's a "Premium Canadian Blogger!!"

But, I'm with ya, Carmi.

Just saw your blip on the tube. Well done. I wasn't planning to catch it - wasn't really even watching the box - I just sort of turned my head, and there you were.

I tried the link, Carmi, and they said it was not available. I will try later.

I was able to watch online. And wow! You looked and sounded great and didn't seem a bit nervous. I am very impressed. I suppose we can all say that "we knew you when..." right?
