As one industry analyst noted, the text access debate touches on everything from censorship to the First Amendment to federal rules relating to non-discrimination against people with disabilities.

"This is a slippery slope with signification constitutional implications," Carmi Levy, senior vice president of strategic consulting at AR Communications, told InternetNews.com.

"Their [carriers] role is to provide service, not to judge access. There is no way for them to come out of this looking good. This is the land of the First Amendment and messing with that is sacrosanct in any form."

I haven't personally, but my mom did last week - first time I'd seen such a thing. UGH! Like there isn't enough garbage being spewn at us every day.

actually, we dont get them on our phones yet, and thank goodness or i would have to go scream at Sprint. my teenager has unlimitted texts because, well, because he is a popular highschool boy and i dont like suprises when he goes overboard... but i, on the other hand, only have a small ammount of texts available for free on my plan before i have to start paying a per text overage charge. if i have to start PAYING FOR SPAM I DONT WANT... ohhhhh. that would piss me off bad!
