Thematic Photographic 209 - From behind

Got sunblock?
Stratford, ON
July 2012

I'd like to try something a little different with this week's theme: from behind. We've been conditioned to take pictures from the front - think about it, when we pose, we stare straight at the camera - that we've virtually forgotten what goes on on the other side. For the coming week, I hope we'll walk around to the back and see what we can find.

There's a practical benefit to shooting from the so-called wrong perspective: you can get away with pointing your lens at perfect strangers in public spaces. On this day in a nearby town known for its world famous Stratford Festival, I found it amusing to come across this scene almost in the shadows of one of its marquee theatres. I guess stories are just as likely to unfold off the stage as on it.

Your turn: First, what's this guy thinking? Second, I'm hoping you'll share your own Thematic vision this week. Take a picture from the back, or of the back. Of what? Could be anything, and I'm betting you'll all find neat ways to interpret it. Post the results to your blog, then leave a comment here letting everyone know where to find it. Repeat often through the week, and bring friends along, too. If you're new to our weekly photo-sharing activity, click here. Have fun!

Given I did some streetphotography in Toronto last month I might have something for this.

The pics will have to come later. I hear the guy thinking, "Wow, I'm never gonna look as funny as that guy with the pants! Look at how high he has them pulled up!"

I just wrote a post last week that included some pictures from behind. It is here: http://runningpastor.blogspot.ca/2012/08/my-favourites.html . The second photo is my favourite for this theme - it's my nephew and my husband - they were staring at a ship in harbour, and trying to guess its length in football fields. :) After this photo was taken, they paced it off!

The guy in shorts is thinking,
"I should pull my pants up but there are two good reasons not to:
first someone might see me and that would be embarassing; and
second is that I sure have a lot more room for me in here with them riding down low like this."

He decided to leave them down and was now thinking, "why do the eating places all close so early?"

I'm behind but now I have finished with my 'behind' post. Find it here:

Poor guy, I wonder if his head peeled. Or if he got some fresh food to-go lol

All right, I'm not a photographer, but I love taking pictures. Sometimes, they aren't very good, or what I wanted. I spent many minutes setting up my camera (on top of my hood) to take this picture. But I was kind of far from the spot where I wanted to stand. And I took many different shots before I got one that I liked. In the group there was actually one from behind ;-)
