Thematic Photographic 142 - Let treedom ring
Barked
London, ON, March 2011
Pardon the play on words, but it's been a tough week and I'm looking for humor wherever I can find it. We'll be exploring trees as part of our new Thematic theme. Why? Because spring is a big time of year for these wondrous chunks of life, and I think it's a neat challenge to explore them with a lens.
Of course, Thematic wouldn't be Thematic without a little - okay, a lot of - interpretation. So I'll leave it to your discretion to define what a "tree" actually is. As always, don't be afraid to take the theme wherever you wish. There are no rights and wrongs, after all. What matters is that we share photographic goodness and learn a thing or two in the process.
Your turn: Post a tree-themed photo to your blog (or find something you may have shared a while back) and leave a comment here letting folks know where to find it. Visit other participants to spread the joy around. Feel free to share as many tree-ish pics as you wish over the coming week: We encourage photographic promiscuity around here. If you're new to this weekly Thematic Photographic sharing thing of ours, click here and all will be explained.

This shot is my daughter’s favorite photo of all the shots I’ve ever taken. I don’t know why it speaks so strongly to her, but it does.
Trees are consistency, longevity, structure and kept-promises in a world that sadly lacks all of these things. Love this theme, Carmi.
I've got some trees.
There's even a movie!

For a change of pace, I like to photograph trees and then do a bit of basic manipulation to them. I find the unexpected complex patterns that emerge quite satisfying. This one was done in November, and I have done others as well which I might share later in the week too.
Yay! I love trees. Here are a couple of them.
Here's mine -- or at least the first one of mine on this theme.

I was listening to NPR radio in the car the other day, and somehow the discussion turned to the word "wheelhouse" - what did it mean, how did it start. Was it just a baseball term, did it harken back to the old railroad. Anyway, photos of trees I guess are in my wheelhouse. While I look around for a new shot - here are my faves from winter,
summer,
fall, and somewhere in between...

Nice! The black and white works really well here. I took this photo of a weeping willow the other day. The colors were so striking

Here's my second post on this topic -- desert trees this time. C'mon over and have a look if you're longing for warm weather right now. It was well over 100 degrees in the shade when I snapped these two trees.
Of course, if I actually remembered to give the URL, you'd have an easier time seeing my desert trees, right?

this theme wouldn't arrive: until today
one of my favourite ones as well....
( the story is on my other blog, just click on through from there)
a link would have been helpful!
It's here
My favorite tree.
I decided to end the theme with a little whimsy... everyone needs a little whimsy sometime.
My word verification is either... no who... or now ho... That second one sounds a bit iffy if you have a nasty mind... or could refer to Santa or an avid gardener that simply cannot spell.... It even reminds me of that old, old western that completely dates me... Wagon Train... westward ho!
Trees are so fun! Here is my contribution: http://thegreengrassgrowsallaround.blogspot.com/2011/04/theme-post-treedom.html
Under the wire… I’m squeezing this one in! It's hot off the press (these were taken only a few days ago).
