Since he retired from the anchor chair of the CBS Evening News, Dan Rather has carved out a niche as one of the sharpest-penned observers of the American condition. An entire half of our super-polarized population probably will never read him, but they ignore his perspective at their peril.
Sadly, I fear those most in need of understanding what empathy truly is are the ones least likely to read, and understand, this article.
