A bridge (not) too far

Wondering what's on the other side

"We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it."

I’ve heard that line so often throughout my life that it’s been burned into my brain, a go-to line that I trot out when I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself.

Which explains why I smiled as we came across this particularly fetching pedestrian bridge not far from our house.

I’m not sure why we wrap up so much meaning in the act of crossing from one side of a body of water to another, but I’m glad we do.

Because there’s always more to explore on the other side. More memories to make. More stories to tell.

So on this day, we paused to take in the sun’s gentle shadows on the deck of this lovely bridge, and then we crossed over to the other side. What we found there was well worth the journey.
